Baby Bottle-Feeding for New Parents

I’m a mother of two children, and they are 22 months apart. My daughter is almost 4 years old and my son is almost 2 years old. Since my kids outgrown from baby bottles by now, I have always found it interesting how the baby bottle-feeding works. Since there are not many resources for new parents to learn bottle feeding, you may find yourself being clumsy when holding the baby, not knowing what to do when your little one spitting up, or having a panic attack when your baby crying nonstop for hours. In this post, I want to share a few tips about bottle-feeding to new parents, so your baby can drink at ease.

We all know breastfeeding is the best for newborns up to 12 months old. Breastfed babies have fewer health problems than babies who don’t breastfeed. Your breast milk changes as your baby grows so they get exactly what they need at the right time. It’s best to feed your baby only...

Top 10 hands-on activities at home for my toddler

My daughter is 19 months old, and she always loves to learn and play new activities. She often gets bored with her current toys, legos, stuffed animals, and books, etc. Sometimes I need to cook or clean up the house, and don’t have enough spare time to bring her outside. She gets very fussy when I don’t give her enough attention. Therefore, I came up with a few simple hands-on activities for her to do at home. This keeps my little one busy to get through the day before meal/nap time, and give me a little time to do house chores. The activities I’m going to share with you are very easy to set up and clean up. I typically use supplies I already have at home or buy cheap materials from Dollar Tree / Walmart / Target. Here are my top 10 hands-on activities at home for my toddler who is under 24 months old.

Arts and crafts are great to start with toddlers. All you need is...

A baby’s skin is soft and sensitive. Routine skin care will help to maintain the healthy skin for your little one. In this post, I would like to share some of my favorites baby’s skin care products that I usually use for my daughter. Chemicals, dyes, fragrances in clothing, detergents, and baby products can cause baby skin irritation, dryness, and rashes. There’s much you can do to protect your baby from these problems.

Shampoo and Shower Gel

You take a shower every day, but babies under 12 months old really shouldn’t get a daily bath. A newborn baby is born with wrinkly skin and a protective covering called “vernix” that naturally peels off during the first week. There’s no need to bathe, rub it nor treat it.

For babies more than 3 months old, three-time-a-week baths (or less) are acceptable...

Rash after Fever in Children

Children Viral Rash

Recently, my 10-month old daughter became sick and was diagnosed with Roseola (a viral illness causing high fever and rash). Roseola is one of most common viral rashes in infants and toddlers. Parents are often confused when their child is diagnosed with “viral rash” or “viral illness”. What is “viral illness”? Why would doctor only suggest that rash is part of a self-limiting illness? Why can’t antibiotics treat viral infections?

In this blog, I want to take the opportunity to share my personal and clinical experiences, and explain the five most common viral rashes in children, so that parents can feel more at ease when they see a rash on their child’s skin.
